A CISDI technical assistance team has jetted to Jindal Steel Odisha Ltd in India to supervise the construction and project management of two new blast furnaces.

Furnaces 2 and 3 will each have a volume of 5,499 cubic metres.

CISDI has undertaken the designs of both furnaces and will be supplying core equipment and construction consulting services for furnace 2. Construction is already in progress.

An onsite launch meeting was held to define the technical assistance team’s division of work and its procedures.

The first technical assistance team to be sent to the site by CISDI, its experts will oversee technological process, civil and water supply and drainage systems.

Currently working in temperatures around 45 deg.C, the team has carried out a number of construction system surveys to assess progress and quality and verifying the differences occurring between local working methods and drawing requirements.

The team back at CISDI’s HQ in Chongqing will be providing a backbone of support via video link.

JSOL’s vice president Mr V.R Sharma met the CISDI team onsite and commented: “We appreciate your supportive presence here and anticipate that with your level of specialism and craftsmanship, the furnaces will blow in on schedule.”
