CISDI is to build an iron ore fine blending system at the Majishan Port of Baowu Jingcheng (Zhoushan) Minerals Tech Co in Zhejiang Province.  

During construction, the port’s existing wharf and stockyard will continue to operate and its annual throughput of 60 million tonnes will remain unchanged.

Two new fine blending lines are to be created, each with a production capacity of 4,000 tonnes per hour.

The new blending system will add 20 million tonnes of blended ores to the port per annum. 

Each line will have a bulk material charging system, blending bins, a blending yard and a blended ores discharge system.

A number of CISDI’s self-reliant clean production and intelligent proportioning technologies will be applied, in order to enhance the port’s production capacity and increase the variety of blended ores with a stabler quality.

² An innovative, intelligent process of proportioning plus forced blending:

Ore proportioning and blending will be completed at the port’s stockyard, rather than being proportioned at a downstream steel plant, which reduces costs at the steel plant.

The port will be elevated from its conventional role as an intermediate piling yard in charge of rental fee collections, becoming a fine blended ores supplier.

Blended ores feature higher quality and more stable components.

² An innovative process of central scraper feeding plus weighing belt proportioning and clean production expertise:

•    Eradicates recurring blocking and channelling of proportioning bins.

•    Proportioning and blending facilities run with safer and greener credentials.

•    Small ores fall to ground for manual cleaning.

•    The upgraded port will become a green, safe and efficient steel sector contributor.

Negotiations for the contract bid were held via video link at CISDI Shanghai, as all staff were working from home due to pandemic restrictions.

The Majishan port project is the second of its kind in China. The first was created at the Caofeidian port, where an Ores Trading Centre has been built for China Minmentals, with CISDI’s involvement.

Majishan’s blending system marks a breakthrough for CISDI’s blending services, elevating them from a rough level to fine level, as required by the market.
